Pentagon wants to stop Domestic Spying

I was just reading this article yesterday on RAW STORY and I noted the DOD hasn’t visited me for quite some time, so I thought maybe there was some credence to the article other than another attempt at propaganda; it’s easy to shut-down one program while you have another waiting in the wings – so I’ve taken a “wait and see” attitude:

Pentagon wants to end controversial spying program

The Pentagon wants to close a domestic terrorism spying venture that has drawn criticism for collecting information on peaceful activists inside the United States, a spokesman said Wednesday.

The new undersecretary of defense for intelligence, James Clapper, found disappointing results during a review of the Pentagon’s Threat and Local Observation Notice (TALON) database, instituted in 2003.

Clapper “has assessed the results of the TALON program and does not believe they merit continuing the program as currently constituted, particularly in light of its image in Congress and the media,” spokesman Pat Ryder said.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates has not yet made a formal decision to shut down the program, Ryder added.

The Pentagon admitted last year that a small portion of the information collected in the database “either should have been purged, or was data that was not appropriate for reporting in that system.” LINK

Not more than an hour from when I posted the article on Nancy Pelosi on Liberalsonly, DOD/CIFA came visiting again, the first time in many, many months. I’m sure it was just a coincidence, but coincidence or not, it still demonstrates that DOD/CIFA monitoring is still alive and well, although this time I did note rather than a direct path to my site, it was found this time using a search engine – so my suggestion is to take the above article with a grain of salt, followed by a loud exclamation of “Bullshit!”

It’s also possible DOD is surfing the web to see what positive/negative impact the above article is having on the Internet as a whole; I only hope most people are as skeptical as I am. I don’t believe they will simply allow a program to die unless measures have been taken to implement something else that is superior to the old “Talon Program.”

This is the article they accessed; Now that I have watched this country spiral into tyranny and completely ignore the Constitution and Bill of Rights, I would no longer invite any federal law enforcement official into my home without a proper (sic) warrant – and then, I wouldn’t trust any of them to actually uphold the law; the “law” has taken on another meaning in this “new America,” and now that we know a District Attorney can indict a turnip if they so please as was illustrated by the Duke scandal, we all need to be much more wary than before:

Justanotherupdate for DOD & CIFA

I am writing this update for only one reason – to clearly define the intent of this Blog! Lately, and for reasons I do not understand, this site is regularly visited by The Department of Defense, at times particularly the CIFA arm of DOD, The United States Department of State, and yesterday, the U.S. General Accounting Office.(There are many, many more governmental entities that visit this site.)

The first and most logical question is why? There is no doubt that I dislike President Bush – and I write continually in an effort to raise the expectation of others to demand that this President – and government – govern according to the “Rule of Law” and respect the Constitution of the United States and adherence to our Bill of Rights. To me, it seems like a simple exercise of freedom of speech – as I have never written a word that promotes violence or anything other than urging citizens to do everything within their legal power to protest against – and hopefully – and eventually, impeach President Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney. I believe they have committed crimes against the United States – and since that is my sincere belief – stating that is nothing other than an exercise in free speech. (I might add that the substantiation for these allegations builds by the day – so it isn’t me to blame – but the corruption in Washington.)

I wish my writing was of a caliber that it warranted such close scrutiny – but I have no delusions of grandeur – so the constant scrutiny has me curious… Why? Are all Blogs that are against corruption and favor the rules of law over tyranny also so closely monitored? And if so – from what I read of CIFA’s “mission” – this site DOES NOT qualify for their interest or investigation(s) unless the military is being used by the Bush administration to identify all that oppose him – which is what I believe is the case.

Yes, I’m probably one of the least-known Bloggers out there – and to be honest, I find it troubling and intimidating to know that I am under DOD’s scrutiny – and I’m not sure it isn’t a simple way of attempting to intimidate me into being quiet… If that’s the case, you’re barking up the wrong tree and you might as well arrest me now – rather than later, because I will not have my voice stifled by fear – or knowing that every instance of my past is being investigated while you search for a way to shut-down this site. If you jail me, there will be ten more to take my place, if not a hundred, or a hundred-thousand.

The ball of freedom and democracy is rolling and gaining momentum every day, and you can catalog us, intimidate or scare the living crap out of many who write the same or even worse than I do – but some of us will not be intimidated – and I fall directly in that category. I have medical problems – which is why I haven’t written much lately, but I will get better (hopefully) and will continue fighting what I believe is the most corrupt government in the history of these great United States.

To DOD and CIFA – if you are looking for something, or question my patriotism, please stop by and knock on the door and I’ll invite you in. I have nothing to hide, unlike you who hide everything from the American public. You shuffle around in the darkness looking for terrorist ties and actions that are non-existent, at least from this author, and then you label peaceful protesters as “credible threats”. Shame on you – you have betrayed your country by following obviously ILLEGAL orders by your Commander in Chief – and corruption never flourishes unless there are co-conspirators to go along with and aid a criminal we call the President of the United States. Shame, shame, shame!
