An Eruption At Iceland’s Katla Volcano Could Be Imminent – Update 2

Update 2: This is the most significant activity I’ve witnessed at the Katla Volcano since the last update, and whether or not this raises the odds of an imminent eruption remain to be seen; there have been a few earthquake swarms and other seismic activity since the last update, but nothing significant enough to report ... Misconceptions In Regard The Chile Volcano Eruption and Why Japan Could Be Next

After reading the recent news about Chile’s Puyehue-Cordon Caulle volcanic eruption I was struck by the obvious omission of “why” this volcano may have erupted after lying dormant for over fifty years and how this could be highly relevant to the people of Japan and the global community: Smoke over the border … fire in ... International Concern Over Iceland’s Katla Volcano Erupting Soon Is Justified -UPDATED

Unfortunately, as dangerous as this volcano is and its history of erupting within months of the Eyjafjallajökull Volcano is disturbing. I find it deplorable that the EU's respective governments are not attempting to prepare their citizens for what I believe is an eventuality, not a probability. Speaking in terms of probability, history would seem to indicate that the Katla Volcano could erupt relatively soon, perhaps before the end of 2010. Again, attempting to find reputable information in regard the Katla Volcano isn't easy, however some of it is out there, and to be frank, the future in regard Katla doesn't look promising at all...

Earthquake Fears Appear To Be Rattling California Residents

Yesterday a trend began where people, primarily on the West Coast began searching for “Earthquake Clouds” and today, the search term “Earthquake Tonight.” I too am expecting a large quake to occur, however I’m not so sure that it will be on North America’s West Coast and I'm certainly not convinced it will be tonight. Even though earthquake activity is rising in magnitude and frequency, it is still almost impossible to predict when and where an earthquake will occur with any degree of accuracy. I do believe that it's possible to predict quakes within a year or two based on careful analysis of trends, but pin-pointing a quake to a specific time or an exact location is still not within the realm of possibility.

Fact Check And Dangers Of Iceland’s Volcano Eyjafjallajokull And Possibility Of Katla Eruption, Updated

the real danger is not Eyjafjallajokull's recent eruption, but the chance/possibility/probability that its eruption will trigger an eruption of a far deadlier volcano, Iceland's Katla volcano. This is not speculation; historical data indicates that during the last thousand years, the Eyjafjallajokull Volcano has been a precursor to much larger and deadlier eruptions from the Katla volcano:

Early April 2010 Earthquake And Volcanic Activity Update

The 7.2 Magnitude Earthquake that occurred yesterday afternoon just south of the U.S. Mexico border is only a sample of what may happen if the San Andreas Fault actually has a major earthquake, and for the southern section of the fault, a 7.2 is a major event, however, keep in mind that it could strike with a magnitude of 8.0 or above, and that would be referred to as a Mega-disaster. (This quake, as of this date, has not been pinned-down to an exact location.) From the USGS:
