I always thought an opinion, almost any opinion, to be considered valid and relevant to the body politic should be comprised of factual statements and substantiation that helps to educate the public to understand and form a logical conclusion for themselves as it relates to our current state of events, or in politics, what may be of concern in the near or far future. I was wrong; The Atlanta Journal Constitution published an opinion piece authored by Eric Cantor in yesterday’s edition that is a distortion of the facts and possesses no credibility whatsoever. To be blunt, its pure fantasy and Tea Party/GOP propaganda that is being hoisted upon the public to advance the cause of Corporate America, our wealthy Elites and the Globalists whom are destroying the Global Economy; it’s downright nauseating. Rumor has it that the Liberal/Progressive/Independent’s and Democrats that work for the AJC were getting sick on the job, complaining of nausea, vomiting, and a general sense of betrayal that their employer would even publish such drivel:
Increasing taxes or spending won’t solve jobs, debt crises
By Eric Cantor
Our country is facing two related but separate crises. The first is the federal government’s debt crisis, the result of decades of fiscal mismanagement by both political parties as well as unsustainable entitlement commitments. The second is the jobs crisis, which has resulted in painful levels of unemployment and underemployment. President Barack Obama is wrong to think that the answer is to increase spending or raise taxes when so many millions of Americans are out of work.
We have learned that austerity does not work as evidenced by the continuing crisis in the EU. Austerity only accomplishes one vital benefit for those who promote such failed economic policies and that’s for multinational globalist conglomerates to step-in and purchase a nation’s vital resources, industry, and public works at ‘fire-sale” prices and it’s even happening right here in the United States.
In fact, the Obama administration’s anti-business, hyper-regulatory, pro-tax agenda has fueled economic uncertainty and sent the message from the administration that “we want to make it harder to create jobs.” There is no other conclusion for policies such as the new Environmental Protection Agency regulations, including the “Transport Rule,” which could eliminate thousands of jobs, or the ozone regulation that would cost upward of $1 trillion and millions of jobs in the construction industry over the next decade. The administration’s new maximum achievable control technology standards for cement are expected to affect nearly 100 cement plants, setting over-the-top requirements resulting in increased costs and possibly thousands of jobs being offshored. There is the president’s silence as the National Labor Relations Board seeks to prevent Boeing from opening a plant in South Carolina that would create thousands of jobs. Such behavior, coupled with the president’s insistence on raising the top tax rate paid by individuals and small businesses, has resulted in a lag in growth that has added to the debt crisis, contributing to our nation’s credit downgrade.
Mr. Cantor should admit that it was him and other Tea Party/radical GOP elements that caused (so S&P states, another entity that has no credibility whatsoever) them to downgrade the U.S. credit rating – which Cantor and his ilk believed was a “victory” and a vindication of their radical position(s). GOP’s ‘Political Insanity’ Caused S&P Downgrade
While I am an Independent and not a fan of President Obama, I find Cantor’s statement that: “the Obama administration’s anti-business, hyper-regulatory, pro-tax agenda has fueled economic uncertainty and sent the message from the administration that “we want to make it harder to create jobs” to be patently false and an obfuscation of the truth, a talent that Mr. Cantor regularly demonstrates as he attempts to justify enriching corporations and the wealthy while escalating America’s vicious Class-war against all but the upper echelons of our society. The GOP has stonewalled President Obama on almost every piece of legislation that he has been in favor of passing, and it isn’t just everyday politics – it’s the GOP actively attempting to sabotage the Obama Presidency:
Mitch McConnell: GOP priority is to sabotage Obama presidency
Maryann Tobin
If the priority of the Republican Party is to sabotage the Obama presidency, then America is in big trouble.
Minority leader, Mitch McConnell said, “The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president,” according to The Atlanta Journal Constitution.
Like a spoiled child holding their breath until they get their way, GOP leader Senator Mitch McConnell does not feel that representing and serving the American people should be the goal of the Republican Party. Instead, the leader of the party of “No” has finally come out and said what many have suspected since Barack Obama won the White House.
McConnell’s statement explains the GOP obstructionism that has crippled efforts to revive the economy, appoint leaders to key administrative positions, and move forward with new legislation. LINK
The debt crisis threatens our long-term future: the ability of our children and their children to have the same opportunities to succeed that this and previous generations enjoyed. Republicans passed a budget this spring, written by Rep. Paul Ryan, that would address our challenges head-on by putting in place commonsense changes to manage our debt over the short and long-term.
It’s a shame that Mr. Cantor didn’t expand on what his vision is for our Middle-Class, Seniors, The Poor and Disabled – and more importantly – our children. The “common-sense” changes that Eric Cantor is blithering about is steep cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, Food Assistance Programs, Education, Environmental Protection safeguards, and FEMA Disaster Funding, all programs that are in place to protect, not eviscerate, social programs that help our nation to enjoy anything other than Third World Status which is exactly where Cantor and Ryan’s Budget proposals are attempting to steer our country.
“(T)he ability of our children and their children to have the same opportunities to succeed that this and previous generations enjoyed” is predicated on a vibrant economy and jobs, a fact that Cantor touches upon but offers no suggestions nor proposals to boost the American manufacturing and general jobs sector. Washington, including President Obama and down to the lowest Congressmen are presenting arguments in regard the jobs situation that is taking the focus off of the real culprits, Corporate America and the beast of Globalization. We are still outsourcing our jobs to other countries and it will continue unabated until Congress addresses this situation; Mark Karlin from BuzzFlash, neither politician nor policy maker posted one of the most logical means to help revitalize our slumping jobs market and economy – but Cantor and the GOP would fight such a proposal tooth and nail because it would require their Corporate Master’s to act, uh, “patriotically,” a trait that is sorely missing throughout the majority of America’s Corporate Elites; it’s a damn shame that we have to pay them via tax credits to help bring back manufacturing and a robust jobs market to their own country:
Why Don’t Corporations Pay Much Higher Taxes Until They Actually Produce Jobs in the US?
MARK KARLIN, EDITOR FOR BUZZFLASH AT TRUTHOUT
Why don’t corporations pay much higher taxes until they produce jobs in America?
After all, workers don’t get paid until after they complete their jobs every couple of weeks or so. That’s the way companies compensate employees.
So, why not wait to tax corporations at a lower rate until they prove that they are “job creators” in the United States – not overseas?
And every year, the businesses would have to prove that they haven’t moved jobs to lower-wage nations, otherwise their taxes will zoom up again.
What Ronald Reagan said about the Soviet Union – “Trust but verify” – should be applied to American business, because they have gotten rock-bottom tax breaks and loopholes – but they mostly use them to increase their profit by employing sweat-shop labor in other nations. As trickle-down economics has played itself out over the last few decades, it has shown that lower taxes for the rich and corporations lead to a very large net loss of jobs in the United States, not an increase.
So, a BuzzFlash at Truthout reader suggested a simple solution. Raise corporate taxes high up, and apply a descending adjustment downward if a business creates jobs in America or doesn’t fire employees and move jobs overseas.
Like workers, corporations should only be compensated when they get the job done, which is the job of creating work here in America, not in some far-away lands. LINK

The governmental regulations that Mr. Cantor is crying about are necessary to thwart Wall Street and Corporate America from adding more profit to their bottom lines by gutting clean water standards and vital environmental protections that have served us well in presenting safe food sources and clean air and water for future generations – something that our bought and paid for Congressmen like Eric Cantor are ruthlessly attempting to eviscerate; financial regulations are being put into place to try and stem the Wall Street criminals from further raping and pillaging the American public. Perhaps he and his Tea Party compatriots are longing for the day when tainted milk and other dangerous chemicals are added to food sources without proper government oversight which we have constantly witnessed in China – a scenario that if you support the Tea Party and radical elements of the GOP could easily manifest itself in these United States in our not too distant future.
Unfortunately, we have found President Obama to be an unwilling partner when it comes to getting America’s fiscal house in order. Since taking office, he has added trillions to the debt, ignored the recommendations of his own fiscal commission and put forth a budget that failed to address the drivers of our debt. Then we had to drag him to the table to make even the modest spending cuts that Standard & Poor’s says don’t go far enough. LINK TO ORIGINAL OPINION PIECE IN AJC
In summation, Mr. Cantor’s statement that President Obama has been “an unwilling partner when it comes to getting America’s fiscal house in order” is dishonest and misleading. Has Eric Cantor so quickly forgotten Speaker Boner’s public statement that:
“I Got 98% of What I Wanted”
It was the Tea Party, GOP, Corporate America, and the Globalists that benefited from Mr. Obama’s capitulation in the Debt Ceiling negotiations, and “we the people” will not soon forget the betrayal from both sides of the aisle – and none of them should feel secure in their jobs. Maybe we should outsource Congress and see what disaster that would wreck on the nation; it could hardly be worse than the fiasco we just witnessed in Congress and the Obama Administration’s refusal to stand up for the people rather than the fascist Globalists that are rapidly destroying the entire global economy..
