Update:

As you can see, the site work is almost finished.  Please visit the site and experience our increased speed, ease of use, and to generally check-out our new design.  This type of endeavor is never inexpensive, and we would appreciate the readership occasionally visiting our advertisers which does help to offset the costs for the day to day expenses of maintaining this site. It also helps to use the Social Networking buttons to submit and/or vote on a particular article or story.

The categories have been completely revamped and go back to basics rather than offering too many and sometimes confusing choices of where to find any given article/Op-Ed. Please note that categories for Authors has been eliminated; if you desire to pull up all of the articles for any particular Author, simply click on that “Tag” and all of his/her work will appear. We still have to “Tag” articles authored by other contributors and expect that work will be finished by this weekend. This information will be posted on a special “Author’s Page” and will be available relatively soon. We will also be reinstating our Blogroll and are looking at ways to implement the Blogroll without destroying the continuity of our current theme.

If you scroll to the bottom of the page you will note that we have RSS feeds from RAW Story and Buzzflash, plus our most recent Twitter Feed. Our original use of third-party widgets slowed-down the site and did not update correctly so we went to the tried and proven route of RSS Feeds.  We still have to complete the work of adding Google’s Adsense and get it configured correctly, and also to add a Google Search function that will allow us to support our favorite search engine and the many other services they offer.

We are finally nearing completion, and while we expect there will be several tweaks and minor changes, this is the format we will be sticking with as it provides a more robust reading experience and also allows our subscribers to scroll down to the bottom of the page and with a simple mouse-click, bring up Breaking Alternative News and Commentary from two excellent Liberal/Progressive sources without having to search the Internet for the most important news on issues that affect our everyday lives.  Thank you again for your patience. Breaking up is hard to do, and departing from a Format/Theme that has served us well for several years is a challenging endeavor. A few years ago we tried several different themes and asked the readership for their opinion and received almost no response, so I chose a new theme with an extremely dark appearance I believed would be a beneficial upgrade for the site and made the changes at midnight. When I awoke the next morning, my inbox was full of emails stating that it was too dark, too hard to read, and a few questioned my sanity. We’re attempting to avoid repeating that scenario and will be experimenting with different methods to make the content easy to read while avoiding sensory overload – and adding new features that will enhance the sites functionality. First and foremost is to get the Discus Commenting System back online, along with our Blogroll and other features that were available on our previous theme. Our “Categories” have to be revamped and we will likely choose to go back to those that were tried and proven and apologize for any inconvenience and/or confusion which were unintended consequences of our site reconstruction.

One feature that excites us is to provide a “Breaking News” category (already created but not functional at this writing) that will provide links to Breaking Alternative News (the truth instead of propaganda) and other content that speaks truth to power rather than parroting the corporate status quo that dominates the corrupt Mainstream News Media. We are not attempting to be another News Aggregator and will pick and choose important news and commentary from sites like BuzzFlash, Raw Story, The Daily KOS, Politics Plus, Op-Ed News and far too many other sites that express news and views that affect our survival as a free and semi-democratic (Sic) nation. We are losing the Class War and fascism is no longer creeping into our society – it’s become a cancer that is devouring its host – and that’s all of us except for the Elites/Corporations and the corrupt politicians that are slaves to their money and power.
